17 Christmas turkeys donated to SCGrocery by SCV Sheriff Station, Viking Organization

This month, the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and the Viking Charities organization helped donate 17 fresh Christmas turkeys to the Santa Clarita grocery store.

“This is what makes giving season real,” said Santa Clarita Grocery founder Bradley Grose. “Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to all of our friends, partners and especially to our cherished guests. We are stronger together.

SCGrocery operates as a fully voluntary non-profit organization serving a week of groceries and personal care items including fresh milk, eggs, produce, canned goods, dry goods, meat, cold cuts and bread, according to their website.

Viking Charities, which helped donate the turkeys, is a Los Angeles-based nonprofit founded in 1950.

“Since its inception, the Vikings have raised over five million dollars for the cause of children and in collaboration with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), members and volunteers , each Christmas collected and distributed approximately 1,500 food baskets. to needy families, ”Viking officials say.

The donation of turkey by Vikings and the Sheriff’s Station followed SCGrocery’s toy distribution on Main Street to families in need on December 18, which included live holiday shows and a Santa float.

“We started this when we realized there were a lot of families in need and after the pandemic that number increased tenfold,” Grose said during the toy giveaway.

SCGrocery has received significant support this holiday season, including a $ 3,000 grant awarded to it by the local Santa Clarita Valley Albertsons and their affiliated supermarkets.
