PN will celebrate independence with political and sporting events


The Nationalist Party will celebrate this year’s Independence Day through a series of low-key political and sporting events spread over nine days.

In the days leading up to Independence Day, September 21, the PN will organize two meetings for activists and two other political events in Naxxar and Siġġiewi.

The traditional mass meeting on the Granaries Floriana will be replaced by a commemorative event next to the Independence monument in Floriana.

Hinting that the event will follow the format used by the Labor Party to mark Freedom Day and Republic Day, the PN said the September 20 activity will involve the participation of historians and young people and will will then conclude with a party speech. Chef Bernard Grech.

In a statement, the PN said this year’s theme for its Independence Day events will be ‘Il-kwalita tal-ħajja li tixirqilna’ (The quality of life we ​​deserve).

The PN said that during the festivities it will recognize the country’s political journey, analyze the present and make proposals for the future.

On Independence Day itself, two sporting activities organized by TimSport PN will take place including a 5k run/walk and also a traditional Independence Shootout.

At a press conference on Monday, Deputy Leader Alex Perici Calascione said the Nationalist Party believed Malta’s independence was still relevant in the current context.

He said society had an important role to play in shaping the future of the country, the quality of life and the socio-economic development of Malta.
